Math Challenge Homework Available
This year, I am using a series of math review sheets called “Drops in a Bucket” for math homework The first benefit of this homework is that it reviews 10 areas of math so children keep up on the skills they have learned even after the chapter is done. For example, rather than study money only once during the year, they will do a couple of problems every week in the homework to keep their money skills sharp. The second benefit is that there are different levels available for the homework. I am currently using level A, review of first grade skills and will switch to level B, review of 2nd grade skills, midyear.
Please monitor your child these first two weeks to see how your child is handling the math homework. We have gone over the format and done several in class the first week of school.
Challenge Homework Option
If you and your child would like to have more challenging math homework, I can start them in Level B now. Please look at the attached sample on the back of this page. Level B includes skills that will not be taught in class until January/February so if you choose challenge homework for your child, you will need to help them with the advanced skills at home. Please email me if you would like your child to participate!
